Daymark’s partnership with LaunchAbility attracts more than 12 DFW-area employers to event
Dallas, TX (October 9, 2017) – More than a dozen DFW area employers have signed up to participate in the inaugural Daymark Living Job Networking Fair, targeted for adults with intellectual and development delays (IDD).
Daymark Living, a novel residential community that was conceived, designed and built for people with intellectual and developmental delays (IDD), has formed a partnership with LaunchAbility, to produce the event. The first one takes place this Friday, with the organizations hoping to make it an annual affair.
For more than 50 years, LaunchAbility®—formerly Special Care & Career Services— has been expanding worlds for people with cognitive disabilities by providing job placement services for underserved and overlooked adults.
The inaugural event takes place:
Date: Friday, October 13, 2017

“Ninety percent of this population is unemployed and most of the ones that are employed are under-employed. We can change that!” said John Poston, founder and president of Daymark Living. “Our community and this job fair will showcase the skills this population has to offer employers. The goal is to allow employers a chance to collect resumes and meet potential employees that can contribute to their business and culture in a meaningful way.”
In late May, Daymark Living broke ground on a 40-acre community with 28 resort-style cottages designed to facilitate friendships and foster independence in a supportive, safe and supervised environment. Part of the program includes education courses, connections and transportation to and from employment opportunities – with this networking fair serving as a jumpstart to that portion of the community’s programming.
The 202-bed community is located at 818 Cantrell St. Waxahachie, Texas, just 30 minutes south of downtown Dallas.
It’s in a location where the target population is dramatically underserved. That’s because in Texas, presently, just 400 quality beds exist for roughly 574,000 adults with IDD in the three major markets (Dallas, Houston and Austin/San Antonio), according to a Texas Workforce Investment Council report. Combined, those beds serve less than one percent of the identified population.
Daymark Living’s doors are anticipated to open later next year.
